Some things to keep in mind for maintaining your yard
-
Lawn experts at Rutgers University recommend cutting the grass and leaving the clippings on the lawn. Another use is to put the clippings on the soil around planting to reduce weed growth, moderate soil temperature and conserve moisture. They can also be composted.
-
After the summer months, once the leaves start to come down, keep in mind that if you decided to bag your leaves please use the biodegradable paper bags as opposed to plastic. Not only are they better for the environment but will require less effort for processing.
-
Rutgers University scientists recommend that the best time to trim trees, without damaging them, is when the sap is not flowing during the months of November thru February.
